I am a firm believer in this theory. I recently have experienced a very real, very painful health problem. (I have recovered) Just prior to becoming sick I had a combination of very traumatic events occur in my life. Coincidence? I don't think so. Recent studies have shown that stress (ie the use of restraints), in the hospital, cause a release of chatecholamines that produce detrimental effects and inhibit healing. Your emotions are directly linked to your health. This article is further evidence

Is this new? I don't think so. It is a well known fact our emotions are ruled by chemicals. Take drugs (ie prozac) and you can prevent yourself from falling in love. (To an extent) When you are frightened chemicals explode in abundance throughout your body. Does this make these feelings less honest? No these are all well known facts about the human condition. I am sure someone will come up with a way to use these chemicals. The autism research is cool..manipulation is not.

A study published Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds that radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, which are often used to track medical supplies and devices, may interfere with the functioning of some medical devices.
Researches performed 123 tests.
34 interference issues were identified, an independent panel of intensive care doctors classified 22 of the interferences as hazardous.
Where's my Jo when we need him? Get on this ASAP.

Have you been on Broad Spectrum Antibiotics recently? Have you visited a hospital or nursing home lately? You are at risk for C. difficile or C.diff as medical professionals fondly call it.
Pathogenic C. difficile strains produce various toxins. These toxins are responsible for the diarrhea and inflammation seen in infected patients.
The organism forms heat-resistant spores, it can remain in the environment for long periods of time. It can be cultured from almost any surface in the hospital. Once spores are ingested, they pass through the stomach unscathed because of their acid-resistance. They change to their active form in the colon and multiply. Disinfectants containing bleach are effective in killing the organisms on surfaces. A medication, metronidazole, is used to treat it.
Although this article and the CDC states there is a risk for death with this friendly guy, I do not think a normal healthy person is at risk for death. I think the risk for death is more acute for those who are already immuno-compromised and sick. I do think one should consider adult diapers with this one. I have seen this bad boy in action.
My advice..
Never visit a hospital unless it is absolutely necessary. If you do visit a hospital or nursing home ALWAYS wash your hands and be aware that this is a place where the very sick come. Don't put your kids in the floor to play. (I have seen this too many times) A hospital is not a place for children unless they are the patient.
